Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a talking therapy aimed at helping individuals to identify and work through life issues - these can range from family/relationship issues, through to personal trauma and childhood issues, phobias and general issues such as a lack of self confidence.

At Cotswolds Therapy, we use an integrative approach that utilises a wide range of tools to help an individual...remaining person centred at all times.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis and other relaxation techniques to enable the therapist to communicate direct with a person's sub-conscious mind to effect positive change.

Benefits can often be achieved in short timescales and can help in all areas of a person's life including sports performance and personal well-being.

Please see below for some frequently asked questions.

Can I be hypnotised?

Yes. It's a bit of a myth that some people can't be hypnotised, everyone can benefit from hypnosis.

Would I be giving up control of my mind?

No - you will always remain fully in control and can stop at any point should you wish to do so.

Can I get stuck in a trance?

No - all that will happen is that you may fall into a deep relaxation for a period of time then come round. Treat it as extra relaxation!

Does it work?

Hypnosis is a very natural state that has been known about and used successfully for a long time. In addition, there are numerous scientific studies showing the positive effects of hypnosis across a wider range of sports and areas of personal well-being. In addition, I have seen many clients benefit from such treatments.

What happens in a typical session?

Initially, you will be asked to complete a few questions to help shape the session and then discuss these with the therapist. The therapist will then devise a session specifically around your needs that generally involves relaxing whilst the therapist talks to you. Sometimes, with sports focused sessions, they can be more active to help 'embody' the desired changes.

How many sessions will it take?

Hard to tell as its so individual but generally 1-3 sessions is a good guide. There are programmes that cover a greater number of sessions for those looking for deeper change or to address long standing issues.

Regression therapy

Regression therapy works by regressing clients back to the root cause of issues, either by going back to earlier in the current life, or sometimes to a past life. This is done in a safe, facilitated way to enable issues to be transformed and blockages cleared. Issues that can be helped include:

- Unexplainable physical pain, such as migraines and irritable bowl syndrome

- Feeling spiritually stuck in life

- Inner child issues

- Unexplained phobias

- Repeat patterns in life

- Understanding relationships/personal interactions

- Family/ancestral issues
